Eleanor Slater Hospital
The Eleanor Slater Hospital is a 600-bed facility serving the Rhode Island community since 1994. There are two areas of care offered at the Slater: acute and long-term psychiatric at its sites in Cranston, and Pascoag, Rhode Island (Zambarano Hospital).
The Eleanor Slater Hospital cares for a variety of psychiatric illnesses. Within its adult and geriatric psychiatric services, ESH features a wide-range of on-site and off-site therapeutic and rehabilitative programs.
This long-term chronic care site treats many conditions, including persistent vegetative states, Alzheimer’s disease, non-Alzheimer’s dementia, multiple sclerosis, end-stage diabetes, advanced pulmonary disease, AIDS, brain injury, spinal cord injury, debilitating strokes, profound retardation, and birth defects. Eleanor Slater is served by a Director of Spiritual Care as well as by two part-time Roman Catholic chaplains, and a part-time Roman Catholic priest.
